I thought I’d start my 2016 Project Life series by showing you how I’m getting started. Those of you that follow me on Instagram (@lzythoughts if you’re interested) have seen a bit of a sneak peek, but I’m actually switching albums this year. When I started Project Life I was so into massive layouts that getting a 12×12 album was a no brainer. My second album also took on this size and whilst I love it, I’m so behind from 2015 that I figured a 6×8 album would work best for me this year.
I really like the page protectors that come with a 6×8, including the option for a massive 6×8 pocket. Most photo-ordering websites allow you to print 6×8 photos, including Snapfish, so I’m really interested in testing that out at some point.
In terms of cards and kits and all that jazz, I want to keep things consistent this year. I’m awful at just mixing and matching without a coherent colour scheme, despite lusting after pretty colour co-ordinated layouts on Instagram and Pinterest. My favourite way of buying cards for PL is to purchase the Core Kit Samplers from Heylittlemagpie. You basically get one of each card from a kit of your choosing for a really good price, which in my opinion is a great alternative to buying a whole kit that you’ll probably never finish. The cards I’ve chosen are the Sweet Edition, which mostly feature blues, pinks and greens. I went through my Blush Core Kit and picked out cards that went with that theme as I’m trying to use up my cards from that kit. Hopefully my 2016 album will have a bit more of a colour scheme than I’ve ever had before, so that’ll be exciting!
Something else I’m going to try is doing more journalling. I tend to let my photos speak for themselves, but I end up printing a lot of photos that aren’t my absolute favourites just to fill a page, or printing photos that don’t really have any significance or story behind them. Project Life is all about memory keeping, so I want to make sure I document the memories and not just the pictures. This means journalling even when I don’t have a photo to go alongside it, which will be a challenge for me!
I hope you enjoyed this little update, I’ll be back soon with the end of my 2015 album, by which time hopefully my 2016 album will be well and truly underway!
Are you doing Project Life this year? What’s your setup like?
