Since I got a full-time job after graduating in 2016 my blog has taken a bit of a back seat. It’s been something I’ve posted on now and again, flitting between lifestyle posts, blogging tips and bullet journalling. With the help of Grow & Glow* (affiliate link) I think I’ve finally figured out that actually, whilst I’ve built up a back catalogue of posts in loads of different niches over the last six years, what I really want to focus on is lifestyle and home.
I’ll be buying my first house this year (hopefully moving in the next couple of months, but even if that all falls through I will have moved out by 2021!) and it seems only natural to document that here. Even if I wasn’t buying a house though, I still think home decor and interiors is what I’ve been passionate about all along. It’s content that I actively consume on a regular basis, whether it’s on blogs, on Instagram or just pinning away on Pinterest – and I LOVE it. I can’t wait to have my own place to decorate and to finally be able to implement the ideas I’ve been building over the last few years. Is this how people who dream about their perfect wedding feel when they finally get engaged?
I don’t just want to document the pretty side though – I also want to talk about the financial side of things. I want to write about my experiences of living at home for the last three years with my boyfriend whilst we saved, how you can navigate that as an adult no matter what your experiences, and things I’ve learned and re-learned whilst trying to save a pretty significant amount of money.
Going into 2020 with a clear plan is a new thing for me and I’m hoping that my enthusiasm doesn’t waver as the year goes on. I wanted to write this partly to let you know what to expect from Lazy Thoughts in 2020 – less bullet journalling, more homeware hauls – and partly to document the process of moving out for myself. It’s a simultaneously exciting and scary time and I can’t bloody wait.
What are your 2020 plans? Do you have any advice for this first-time buyer? Let me know!
