I love setting goals. For me, goals help me stay motivated, and show areas where I need to improve. At the start of this year, I wrote a post about what to expect from this blog in 2016. In the post, I wrote down some of my blogging goals, and today I thought I’d do a little update post to show how I’m getting on.
One thing I wanted to grow this year was my social media, but I didn’t really start putting a lot of effort in until the past couple of months when uni was drawing to a close. My followers have still grown, but I definitely feel like I could have exceeded some of these goals already if I’d gone all-out to begin with.
I am keeping my end of year goal at 600 for Bloglovin’. I have only gained about 50 followers since the start of the year, so I hope I can double that by the end of the year if I put a bit of extra effort in.
For Twitter, you can see I’ve gained about 300 followers since January. That probably isn’t as many as I could have by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m well on track to reach my 1300 target. My new end of year goal is 2000, because I love a challenge!
The story is similar when it comes to Instagram, as I’m only 30 followers from my original 400 target. My new target is 600 followers by December.
Other blogging goals
I also set myself some more general blogging goals at the start of the year, which included going to three meetups, and blogging at least once a week.
As far as the latter goes, I’m sure any regular readers of this blog know I’m actually failing at this pretty regularly. I’ve been in a bit of a slump when it comes to creating new content recently, and I’ve been struggling to decide where I want to take this blog. I’m primarily a student lifestyle blogger, but I graduate next month and I can’t hang on to the student life forever. I’m now trying to find my new niche, and creating content is just not happening as regularly as I would like.
As for meetups, I’m well on track to reach my target. I attended #BloggersBelowZero earlier in January, and the Big Bloggers Meet-Up at the start of this month (where the photo above was taken!). I really enjoy attending meetups and I think for the most part I have had really fantastic experiences. #BloggersBelowZero was one of the most fun events I’ve been to, as I hung out with some fab bloggers that I’d met the month before at #BloggersChristmasBurger meet in December. I’ve not got anything planned in the way of meetups for the rest of the year, but I’m sure something will come up!
I’d love to know how you’re getting on with your 2016 goals. If you didn’t set any at the start of the year, it’s definitely not too late to set some now! Let me know what your biggest challenge is.
