Welcome back to another edition of my blog and social stats posts. This month is a bit of a mixed bag and to be honest I’ve sort of dropped the ball a bit. This was my first month with advertisers so I felt quite a lot of pressure to keep up with my social media, but ended up not blogging as much as I would have liked. I’m hoping I manage to utilise my time more effectively in September, but somehow I can’t see it happening! Anyway, here’s how I did in August.
My stats were always going to fall after last month’s glowing figures and I just scraped 200 tweets this month. My overall visits and impressions were down, but my retweets were up so… dunno what that means. I’m getting better at writing promo tweets? I gained 120 followers which isn’t too shabby, and I’m hoping to reach 3k followers in September. It’s my birthday at the end of the month so maybe I’ll do a cringe shoutout begging for followers in time for that *insert smug face emoji*.
I swear I did more than just visit London and Chichester this month, but by my Instagram you wouldn’t know it. This month’s top content couldn’t be more different to what I was posting last month, but I do think my theory of posting more recent content is helping. I also think that it really helps when I’m in love with my own images, and this month I so was. The cute pic of me on the bench in Covent Garden got me 204 likes (my most ever!) and all the London photos really spiced up my content. However, I actually lost 6 followers on the platform overall, which doesn’t sound like much but must be the first month ever I’ve actually seen a drop. My followers fluctuate all the time but they’re always steadily increasing! Not sure what Instagram are playing at with the algorithm right now (well, I do and it involves allll the money) but I wish they’d just fix it.
Blog Stats & Google Analytics
On to the blog stuff. I managed five posts in August which is a bit shit but not too bad – just a shame they all came at the start of the month. Whoops. My most viewed of those is my must-have props for flat lays which took me an AGE to write so I’m happy about that. My pageviews and sessions for the month are down a little from last month, but that tends to fluctuate anyway depending on how well certain posts do on Pinterest. My domain authority is still 26 so that’s proving that I’m doing the right thing when it comes to broken links and all the SEO stuff.
Overall, I think my stats this month are pretty average. They aren’t the best they’ve ever been, and the Instagram loss has really shown that I need to make some changes there. However, things could be worse. I’m going to focus more on content this month as I’ve been bursting with ideas recently, so hopefully that’ll help more on the traffic side of things and September will be a bit better from a stats point of view. Fingers crossed!
