Blog and social media stats - May 2018

It’s that time of the month again where I bang on about how my stats are falling and there’s nothing I can do to stop it wah woe is me. But in all seriousness, I’m bored of this format and bored of repeating myself every month, so I’m going to do my best to spruce things up a little and inject a bit of life back into these posts.

Let’s start with the blog.

This month has seen my pageviews drop again, to 6.7k for the month of April. My sessions were up at 4.4k, though seem to have dragged my average session duration down A LOT. My session duration is never great on GA because of Pinterest traffic, but this month it’s really taken a turn for the worse. I’ve tried to drill into the data a little more to understand why this might be, but I can’t really find anything just yet. Hopefully the coming month might shed some light!

Lazy Thoughts April 2018 GA stats

Unsurprisingly (I think) my April bullet journal pages post was my most viewed of the month. I promoted it on Twitter probably an equal amount to the other new posts I wrote, but I also got it up on Pinterest so definitely gained some traction from it there. I’ve taken that on board for my similar May 2018 bullet journal post and have made sure I’ve posted it to all my relevant Pinterest boards, plus scheduled it throughout the month on Tailwind. Fingers crossed I’ll increase my pageviews on last month.

Onto Instagram…

My top Instagram posts of April 2018

I’d say Instagram has been a bit of a mixed bag this month. My top performing post was the blossom photo in the top left, which got over 200 likes and was a spur of the moment photo as I wandered through town on my lunch break. The rest of the photos on the grid above got around 150 likes, which is still higher than my average which I think is around 100-120. I have no idea why the blossom photo performed so well annoyingly. Probably a combination of it being an ‘instant’ photo and the hashtags I used on it. I have seen a couple of posts really flop this month though, so I’m definitely no closer to figuring out how to make the algorithm work for me!

I have finally gained some followers though! I’ve tipped over 1120 and hopefully I’ll stay there (at the moment I have 1133!!). So we’ll see how that goes.

I’ve decided I’m going to drop the Twitter section of these posts as it’s boring to write about and it’s not really a platform I focus on. I promote my posts regularly when I remember and my views tend to be slightly higher, and when I forget, they drop a little. Last month I was pretty good at remembering, so hopefully that trend continues.

With that said, I think that’s it for this month! Hopefully these will be a little shorter and sweeter from now on, and I’ll start getting into the good stuff a little quicker! Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to read about in these posts and I’ll see about adding some new info in the future.
