At the beginning of the year, I posted my 2017 Blogging Goals. As I have done in the past, I thought it would be fun to see how I’m doing halfway through the year. I always seem to do better growth-wise in the second half of the year, but this is definitely a good indication of whether or not I’ll reach my original goals.
My main goal was to create quality content on a regular basis. Whilst it’s probably not as regular as it could be, I’ve definitely stopped posting not-quite-there content and I’m always happy with what I put out. I could be a little better at creating Pinnable content though, which was my second goal of the year. My third major blogging goal was to work on my brand, and I do think this is coming along slowly but surely. My Instagram in particular is more in line with my other social channels, which I’m still working on. I also invested in some business cards this year, which definitely forced me to think about my blog as a brand.
In terms of social media, my goals were to:
Reach 1000 followers on Bloglovin’ (666/1000) Now: 729
Reach 5000 followers on Twitter (1944/5000) Now: 2528
Reach 1500 followers on Instagram (690/1500) Now: 1037
It’s safe to say I still have quite a way to go, and whilst I purposely made my 2017 goals quite ambitious, they might have been a little too ambitious to actually achieve. If I carry on at the same rate I have been, I’ll manage around 800 Bloglovin’ followers, 3000 Twitter followers and 1300 Instagram followers by the end of the year. As I said above though, I do expect to gain more followers in the second half of the year, and with a bit of effort I’m sure I could reach these goals. Watch this space I guess?
I’ve been to a couple of events this year; the most recent being Scarlett London’s #BloggersBall. I didn’t set myself a goal with an amount of events to attend this year, but it’s definitely on my radar to keep attending things that appeal to me and meet loads of fab people.
Blogging goals updates
I don’t think I’m going to change any of my goals based on my year so far, but I’m definitely going to try and be realistic about what’s actually achievable and try and set myself a series of smaller goals in order to reach my main targets. If I’m honest I’ve barely been paying attention to my goals and just coasting along, so I definitely think it’s something I’m going to have to start focusing on if I want to improve!
I am going to put less pressure on my Bloglovin’ goal probably, just because I don’t even use the platform myself that much anymore so it doesn’t seem worth it. If people want to follow me on there I’m sure they will, but for now I’m going to put more effort into my Twitter and Instagram and try and grow my Facebook page as much as possible.
So that’s it for this little mid-year goals update. If you’re a stats-y kind of person then make sure you’re checking my social media tab monthly for my Blog and Social Media Stats updates. I’m switching up how I write them a little for July, so that should be exciting! Let me know how you’re doing with your 2017 goals in the comments. If you didn’t set any – tell me one thing you want to achieve before the end of the year! I’m all about those #blogginggoals.
