Beauty is not something that often features on my blog, but today’s post is both an exception and the start of a new chapter. I have decided to go cruelty-free in an effort to stop supporting animal testing. Obviously animal testing is never something I have agreed with, but by continuing to support brands that do it, I have been supporting the practice. I’ve seen a lot of these posts around and about, and it seems like a fun way of documenting the start of my cruelty-free journey. It’s also a handy thing to refer to when I’m looking for new makeup. I’m starting by looking at the products I use most days/weekly skincare, but ultimately I will need to sort out the rest of my makeup too. I won’t be replacing any products immediately, but I’ll be considering a few things when it comes to repurchases.
The base
Primer: L’OrΓ©al Infallible Mattifying Base
Foundation: Shiseido Radiant Lifting Foundation
Powder: Barry M Ready Set Smooth
Bronzer: MUA Mosaic Bronzer
Highlighter: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish
Brushes: Spectrum Collections
So, not the best start but not the worst either. I have cheated a little too because I recently bought a new powder but I’m very happy that I don’t have to buy a load of new brushes! Shoutout to the gals at Spectrum for being absolute BABES. I’m not too sure about the status of MUA (I’ve been going off Cruelty-Free Kitty’s list of brands which it doesn’t appear on) but it does say it’s CF when you Google it. Let me know if you know any different?
Eyes
Eyeliner: Revolution Awesome Double Flick Liquid Eyeliner
Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked 3
Brows: Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow
Lashes: Benefit They’re Real
Okay so it didn’t get better did it? I’m most gutted about the eyeliner because I’ve used this one for years and I quite like it, but I’m sure there are plenty of cruelty-free ones to choose from. I may invest in something new for my brows sooner than this eyeshadow runs out, so send me your recommendations if you have any good CF brow products!
Edit: Revolution are actually cruelty free so YAY to keeping my eyeliner after all!
Skincare
Setting spray: Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
Moisturiser: Lush Celestial Facial Moisturiser
Toner: Lush Tea Tree Water / Pixi Glow Tonic
Other skincare: The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Skincare is my best category by far with CF hearts across the board. I’m pretty excited about this, and will definitely be upgrading to the full size Glow Tonic when this little travel one runs out!
Clearly this journey is going to be a bit of a learning curve, and there’s always going to be ways to improve. Like I said in the beginning, this only covers my daily makeup and there are plenty of other products sitting on my shelves that aren’t cruelty-free, which I will ultimately turn out and go through in more detail. I may even do a post on it if you’re interested? Let me know if you’re cruelty-free or if it’s something you’d consider doing, and give me allll the recommendations for products to replace my non-CF ones!
