I’m sure there’ve often been blog posts I never thought I’d write. But 4 years of Lazy Thoughts has got to be up there.
The last four years have been a bit of a blur, both on and off the blog. When I started Lazy Thoughts I was nineteen, I’d just started uni and I had no idea where I was going with this blog; I just wanted to write. My first blog post basically iterated that point. It was rambly and lacked any real focus, but I just wanted to get all my thoughts out into the world. And that’s sort of what I’ve done ever since.
I feel like I’ve achieved quite a lot in the last four years. I’ve accumulated over 200,000 pageviews and worked with exciting brands like ghd, Debenhams and Cannesten. I’ve improved my photography to a point I’m pretty happy with. I’ve made blogging friends and become more confident in myself than I ever thought possible. I’m beyond thankful to everyone who has ever read, commented on or shared my posts with others because I genuinely never thought I’d get any readers when I first started out, so to be averaging 6k views a month is something I only could have dreamed of.
There’s a long way to go to take my blog to the next level. I’m not even entirely sure what the next level is yet. Whilst I’ve always dreamed of blogging full-time and working from home, I do now have a job that I enjoy and is helping me grow, and I don’t know if I’m necessarily cut out for the freelance life. I’m also not sure if I’m cut out for working from home. I think it takes a lot of self control and motivation which I definitely have, but not all the time. Right now I’m just going to focus on making more of an income from blogging alongside the day job, and really throwing myself into everything blog related. Expect more personal posts, more blogging tips and tricks posts and maybe even the odd bullet journal post!
Thank you (again) if you’re reading this. I wouldn’t change a thing about the last four years and I’m so glad you’ve experienced it with me, whether this is the first post of mine you’re reading or the fortieth. I hope you’ll stick around for the future, whatever it may hold.
