Q&A: Meet my October advertisers

Where on earth is this year going? I can’t believe we’re mid-way through October, but it’s time to meet my October advertisers. This month sees four bloggers on my sidebar, some we’ve met before and a few new faces too. I can’t wait for you to meet them!

Twenty Something Meltdown - Meet my August Advertisers | lazythoughts.co.uk

First up is my fave blogging bae Gwennan from Twenty Something Meltdown. I’m not sure she really needs an introduction around these parts anymore (just as I’ve appeared on her blog so much by now I’m sure her readers are sick of me) but if you’re not sure just who she is, let me fill you in. Gwennan is a fellow bullet journal fan and ‘bit of everything’ blogger, who also runs her own small business as an illustrator by day. Basically she’s fab, and her Instagram game is on point right now so you should go give her a cheeky follow!

Why did you start your blog?
I actually started it way back in 2015 before I graduated uni as a sideline to my illustration website. Because our websites are portfolio based they very rarely changed much so we were encouraged to write a blog to have something that was frequently refreshing. It started as purely illustration and creativity based but after reading millions of blogs and falling in love I made this blog with this name and started writing about everything in January 2016 – and the rest is history!

What’s the story behind your blog name?
I like to think it’s pretty simple – I’m a twenty something gal frequently having first world meltdowns over things like how my last Instagram post bombed and why I’m skint all the time. And I like to think I’m not the only one…..

Where do you see your blog this time next year?
Oh god I don’t know. I have a million and one ideas and thoughts about blogging and the future of it and where my place in it is but no time to implement it all! I hope I’ll maybe have a more cohesive brand between my blog and my business? And I feel like I want to continue the trend I’ve started on my blog where the home page is more like a lifestyle website? With loads of different elements and maybe a newsletter or something? Idk, I have too many ideas!

Which bloggers are you loving right now?
SO many (you included obvs). I have made it my mission to find new blogs to obsess over and follow on Insta and stuff and I’ve found so many. Some people I’ve most recently followed include From Roses, Becky Rouncefield, Emma Inks, Hannah and the Blog, Laura Bradshaw and The Salty Sea Blog.

Where in the world would you most like to visit?
Me and my other half were literally talking last night about how if we went to New Zealand we’d want to hire a big van and just drive and tour the whole country over like a month. It’s not top top of my list but can you even imagine how beautiful? I think absolutely top at the moment would be Scotland, somewhere remote in a cottage on a farm with a big log burner and maybe take the dog so we could walk for miles. Given my two choices maybe I’m just craving peace and quiet..?

Advertiser number two this month is the lovely Kim from Chimmyville. Kim has a huge variety of content on her blog, from budgeting to travel, DIY and plenty of food and drink posts. Her blog is relatively new to me, but she has so much content to get through that I feel like I’m always going to have some catching up to do!

Why did you start your blog?
I first started my blog as part of my college A level project on web design, but it’s changed a lot since then. When I first started blogging (in 2005) it wasn’t consistent and my posts were full of teenage angst and bad photography. It’s come along way since then.

What’s the story behind your blog name?
My blog’s name is Chimmyville, and is a combination of my nickname Chimmykins (or Chimmy for short) and the French word ‘Ville’ meaning town or place.

Where do you see your blog this time next year?
I’m hoping to be more engaging with my headers and to go over and improve old posts – taking new photos and rewriting them where appropriate.

Which bloggers are you loving right now?
Thea’s Thinkings, Pretty Little Finch, A Cornish Geek and Imaginary Karin.

Where in the world would you most like to visit?
Amsterdam. It’s been on my travel bucket list for a while now and it’s not too far, so definitely achieveable. I want to see the beautiful canals, the flower market and the Van Gogh museum.

I first found Ellen’s blog whilst she was advertising with Gwennan, and it’s one of those blogs that you could just spend hours scrolling through. She covers such a broad range of topics that the average person could only hope to compete with, and it really is the epitome of a ‘lifestyle blog’. Her posts on parenting are informative but she mixes things up with topical content as well as the odd fashion post thrown in for good measure.

Why did you start your blog?
I actually started my blog as a way of tempting people to my Etsy store where I sell some unique vintage treasures that I come across.

What’s the story behind your blog name?
My blog name E L Feelgood’s Vintage I have my husband to thank for. We chatted about why I love vintage and how it makes me feel good so he suggested the initials of my first and middle name (E & L) and then Feelgood. So E L Feelgood was born! Hence why people refer to me as ELF!

Where do you see your blog this time next year?
My blog has already grown from showcasing my vintage treasures to lifestyle and parenting. It’s all because I love to write and I love sharing hints and tips with others to help them. I will continue to help others and share with them my blogging journey. I also love connecting with others and learning new things. These I will continue to do over the next 12 months.

Which bloggers are you loving right now?
There are a lot of bloggers I love to read. For starters there is the lovey Gwennan over at Twenty Something Meltdown, Jordanne from Life of a Glasgow Girl, Victoria at Lylia Rose, Emma Drew‘s blog is also great. I really could go on and on – I find a lot of female bloggers inspirational and killing it right now. Which is why I started my blog series Why She inspires Me to celebrate female bloggers!

Where in the world would you most like to visit?
There isn’t one particular place I would like to visit but several! Last year our family spent four weeks touring the Balkans. It was the most amazing experience to visit so many different countries and see so much. But if I had to be pinned down to choose it would have to be the Far East perhaps starting in China with the Great Wall and the Terracotta Army!

Jess and her blog have been on my radar for as long as I can remember. She’s one of the first bloggers that comes to mind when I think back to my early blogging days, and whilst she’s been on and off the radar, her posts are always informative and fun and often really personal too. Jess is one of those people that you just feel like you know once you’ve read a few of her posts, and I honestly think it’s such a shame we live so far away because I feel like we’re really similar and would get along great in real life!

Why did you start your blog?
I started blogging back in 2006 to record my daily life and thoughts. I thought of it as my online diary and it was great to be able to look back at certain events or reflect on how I felt at a particular time of my life. Slowly, I started integrating my hobbies and interests into my blog as well and slowly became a lifestyle/personal blogger.

What’s the story behind your blog name?
I’ve gone through a lot of name changes but if there’s one thing that all my blog names had, it included my name since I felt it was a nice touch to a personal blog. I rebranded to October Rain when I wanted a nice blog name without my name tied to it. October Rain is based off my birth month and my favourite weather.

Where do you see your blog this time next year?
I’m slowly trying to get back into blogging and keeping it consistent. I do hope that next year, I’m on my of my blog and able to share more life events and lifestyle entries. I’d like to increase my blog readership and views as well.

Which bloggers are you loving right now?
I’m loving Dyana from A Debt Free Journey, Steph from Social Spying, and of course, you!

Where in the world would you most like to visit?
If I can be general, I’d love to visit the UK. I’m looking forward to seeing London and Scotland sooner than later!

My favourite recent post of Jess’s: Forget what you’ve heard about brazilian waxes – an honest bikini waxing experience.
